Love Drives Us Campaign

For over 40 years Ronald McDonald House Charities Detroit has been providing a “home away from home” for the families of ill or injured children receiving care at Children’s Hospitals; As the pediatric services increase in Detroit, so does the need for our House and programs.

The new ‘Love Drives Us’ campaign focuses on RMHC Detroit offering our programs and services to all the patients and families at all Metro Detroit hospitals with the help of our very own shuttle services. Funds raised will also allow us to make important improvements to the House so we can continue giving families the comfortable rooms they deserve, a safe environment to retreat to and a good night’s sleep.

In 2016, Ronald McDonald House Charities Detroit relocated from its original property to its current location, a mile from Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Since the opening of the new House, RMHC Detroit has relied on the help of out transportation team and mini-van to get our visiting families to and from the House and hospital.

As we offer our services to the families at more hospitals in Metro Detroit and expand our outreach to the community, the need for an additional and larger shuttle vehicle became evident.

Shuttle Services

Through generous campaign donations, we have successfully purchased a new 12-passenger shuttle van with an ADA compliant wheelchair lift! This new vehicle will allow us to be inclusive and accommodating for more patients and families, but we still need your help.

We are now seeking funds to aid in the expansion of our transportation program:

• additional shuttle vehicles as needed
• costs of gasoline
• vehicle maintenance
• hiring additional transportation staff

House Program Upgrades

After more than 5 years and thousands of families, there are some spaces in our House that could use a little love. Thanks to some very generous donors, we recently replaced all the drawers and cabinets in our kitchen and converted an underused storage space into a much-needed fitness center, but with your help, we could do so much more.

Our plans include:

• Bedroom remodels with new (hypoallergenic, easy-to-wash) linens
• Faster internet speeds
• Smart TVs in each room
• More energy-efficient washers and dryers
• and many other projects

Shuttle Services
We are now seeking funds to aid in the expansion of our transportation program:

Adopt-a-Room
We have 25 bedrooms that provide rest and comfort to hundreds of families each year. To adopt a room, the donor pledges $20,000 over a five year period. This allows RMHC Detroit to update a guest room with new mattresses, technology, and common maintenance. The room will proudly be named after the person, company or organization and feature personal decor touches inside the sponsored room.

Share-a-Night
Our goal is to be able to provide a zero-cost “home away from home” for the families who visit Detroit for their child’s medical care. Monetary gifts of any size are welcome to support this fund. This provides a place free of financial burden for the already struggling families by never asking them to pay for their stay.

House Upgrades
Seeking monetary and in-kind gifts that help maintain the cleanliness, organization and safety of the House for all guests: updating worn furniture and equipment in common areas, enhancing technology systems and equipment.
